Love Hamilton? If So, Be Sure to Check Out Spamilton: An American Parody
After tearing it up in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, Spamilton: An American Parody will stage a singing, dancing, and comedy revolution in Houston for a limited time only. Don’t miss this “convulsively funny” (New York Times) parody when it comes to Houston on Sunday, June 2nd!
Created by Gerard Alessandrini, the comic mastermind behind the long-running hit Forbidden Broadway, and performed by a versatile cast of seven, Spamilton is a side-splitting new musical parody. The Huffington Post raves, “you don’t have to see Hamilton to have side-splitting fun at Spamilton.”
Spamilton: An American Parody is the story of a very famous writer, director and star trying to save Broadway from mediocrity and oblivion. Along the way, this sharp and lovable genius not only takes aim at Broadway's mega-hit, but manages to make hysterical mincemeat out of all current and classic Broadway – plus a good deal of pop culture, too. The cast features Chuckie Benson, Ani Djirdjirian, Marissa Hecker, Brandon Kinley, Adrian Lopez, Dominic Pecikonis, Datus Puryear, and Music Director Curtis Reynolds at the piano.
Marilyn Stasio of Variety mused, "Hip-hop, Broadway showtunes, Viennese waltzes – is there anything this guy can't write? No, not Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, but Gerard Alessandrini, whose ingenious parody Spamilton simultaneously salutes and sends up Miranda and his signature musical.” The Hollywood Reporter calls Spamilton “…so infectiously fun that it could easily run as long as its inspiration!”
