Gear Up for the Holiday Season with the Grassroots Initiative, WHAM
Over a decade ago, there was a need in the Houston community for an arts market that would foster professional growth, connect art lovers to creative makers and support artists across a variety of disciplines. Fresh Arts stepped in to develop WHAM, a grassroots initiative that has since grown to generate over $1 million in sales for the Houston arts community with more than 600 artists participating in the exposure-boosting event.
WHAM has held a special place in the creative Houston community for many reasons, not least of which is the diversity of art disciplines showcased, from painters to poetry buskers and everything in between. This year’s WHAM marks the final installation of the event as Fresh Arts shifts focus to provide a deeper level of support for artists through new programs such as an annual Artist Summit, which will provide skill-building tailored to the evolution of the local arts economy.
WHAM will kick-off with an “Ugly Sweater”-themed Preview Party and Happy Hour from 6-10 pm. Guests can purchase tickets to access early shopping, an open bar, light bites, and festive live entertainment. WHAM will be free and open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, November 17th and 18th from 11 am to 8 pm and 11 am to 4 pm, respectively.
At Hollow Tree Park Apartments in Houston, Texas, we believe it’s important to integrate yourself into the community, which is why we suggest attending this event. Meeting new people, having unfamiliar experiences, and joining neighborhood activities is the key to an exceptional lifestyle.
